U.S. November NAHB Homebuilders Index - Bounce extended but 6-month view corrects lower
2
November’s NAHB homebuilders’ index of 38 has marginally extended a 5-point October bounce and remains at its highest level since April. Details show increasing strength in current month data but a correction lower in the 6-month view.
Current sales at 41 are up from 39 in October and 34 in August and September, supported by Fed easing. Buyer traffic at 26 is similarly up from 25 in October and 21 in September, but is still weak.
6-month expectations however slipped to 51 from 54, though are still above September’s 45 and the recent low of 40 seen in June. Fading hopes for future Fed easing may be behind the correction in the 6-month view.
