USD flows: Durables strong but core neutral, USD steady

Stronger durables were due to aircraft, and it's hard to see much FX action into the end of the week, although declining volatility may favour the riskier currencies
Much stronger than expected durable goods orders were due mainly to aircraft, and the core index was flat m/m. Initial claims were as expected and continuing claims a little lower. The USD has moved marginally lower after the numbers, but it’s hard to see the data as being responsible. It looks like the session will remain relatively quiet, and with nothing of much note tomorrow either, it could be a quiet end to the week which should favour the riskier currencies that sold off in the initial post-tariff panic.
