EUR/USD, SEK Flows: Dollar marks lower, eyes negotiations for traction
Equities, oil, dollar all mark to the w/e news, but look next to assess longevity
The typical kneejerks to the weekend news as the market waits to see if the pause in strikes offers a platform for a lasting halt in tit-for-tat exchange escalations or it just marks a breather. Some press report that it has been running low on munitions (dismissed by the US) and this may have been an influence. Either way, it provides a halt to the Iran shipping attacks while it holds and oil is off around 5%, the S&P future has regained 1% after testing important s/t support at the end of last week, and the dollar has given back up to ½ % against the higher beta counters (SEK). EUR/USD likewise finds itself back at clos to that familiar 1.14 pivot point. Next key consideration is whether negotiations (given ‘some space’ by the pause) show any traction.
