U.S. June NFIB survey - Bounce may be dated, prices strong
6
June’s NFIB survey of Small Business Optimism shows the optimism index at its highest since February at 97.4 from 95.3, a reading that was the lowest since October 2024 just before a sharp post-election bounce.
However the bounce may already be dated given the recent escalation of hostilities in the Middle East.
Inflation fears persist despite oil coming off its highs. The net prices index of 38 is up from 36 in May and the highest since February 2023. Future price expectations did slip to 32 from 34 but remain well above April’s 27.
