U.S. February Pending Home Sales - Modest correction from recent weakness
2
Pending home sales have seen a modest 1.8% rise in February to follow two straight declines, which took the series to a record low.
The recent weakness of the series more than fully erased gains to November 2025, and the weakness has underperformed recent data for existing home sales, as well as other surveys of housing demand, which generally show little clear direction. Still spending home sales are down only marginally yr/yr, which can be seen as consistent with a mostly fairly flat housing demand picture.
Regional detail shows increases in there of the four regions, with the exception being the Northeast which saw a third straight decline. That may in part be due to bad weather.
