U.S. July Consumer Confidence - Slight dip, labor market view slipping
1
July consumer confidence at 90.8 from 92.2 has largely reversed a rise in June, though the moves are fairly small, with confidence remaining weak and in a tight range.
The move does not appear related to resumption of hostilities in the Middle East, with inflation expectations back near pre-war levels.
The slippage was largely due to the present situation, with future expectations unchanged.
Perceptions on the labor market continue to trend lower, suggesting a June dip in unemployment will not be sustained in July.
