December’s NAHB homebuilders’ index is unchanged at 46 after two straight gains. Six-month expectations continued to improve but current sales paused and buyer traffic slipped.
The six-month expectations index of 66 from 63 is at its highest since April 2022 and this suggests despite the pause on the month, the recent revival in the index after the Fed started easing is not yet done.
Current sales were unchanged at 48 with November revised down from 49. Buyer traffic slipped to 31 from 32. Both components remain above October’s respective levels of 47 and 29.
