U.S. November NFIB survey shows significant acceleration in selling prices
1
The most notable feature of November’s NFIB survey of Small Business Optimism was a sharp rise in the proportion reporting higher selling prices, to 34% from 21%, reaching the highest level since March 2023. Why such as sharp bounce has some this month is difficult to explain but it could be that tariffs are being increasingly passed on.
Overall the index at 99.0 from 98.2 more than fully erases October's dip but remains below the indices seen in July and August. Hiring plans at 19 from 15 are at their highest since December 2024.
Compensation at 26 is unchanged but compensation plans at 24 from 19 are at their highest since December 2024. Contrasting the rise in current prices however, future price expectations are unchanged at 30.
