U.S. April Pending Home Sales fall sharply to a 4-year low

April’s 7.7% fall in pending home sales more than fully reverses two straight gains and takes the series to its lowest since April 2020 at the height of the pandemic.
Pending home sales have recently shown some inconsistency with existing home sales but this data suggests the sharp spike in February existing home sales, similar to what was seen in February of 2023, will continue to unwind.
