January’s NFIB index of Small Business Optimism to at 102.8 from 105.1 has corrected from its post-election bounce.
While the dip is modest compared to the bounce over the preceding two months, January 2027 did not show a similar correction lower after seeing a similar post-election bounce.
Detail shows the indices for net prices both current and future expected, slipping back after bouncing in November and holding steady in December. Hiring plans are marginally softer. Wage data is mixed, with compensation plans slowing but actual compensation acceleration.
