July’s NFIB index of Small Business Optimism at 100.3 from 98.6 has reached its highest level since February, regaining momentum after a pause in June. Encouragingly, inflationary signals have slipped back after a bounce in June.
The net prices index of 24 is the lowest since December 2024, down from 29 in June though only marginally below 25 seen in April and May.
Compensation at 27 from 33 is similar to May’s level; of 26 while compensation plans at 17 from 19 are at a 3-month low. Hiring plans however at 14 from 13 are like the headline, at their highest since February.
