U.S. September NFIB survey - Weaker with higher prices
2
September’s NFIB index of Small Business Optimism at 98.8 from 100.8 has largely erased two straight gains though is still well above pre-election levels and above April’s 95.8 when tariff alarm was at its peak.
Tariffs may be contributing to the latest dip however, with current prices at 24 from 21 fully erasing an August dip while future price plans at 31 from 26 are at a three month high.
Despite the dip in the overall index hiring plans at 16 from 15 are at their highest since January and compensation at 31 from 29 is at a three month high. Compensation plans however edged lower to 19 from 20.
