BOJ Deputy Governor Himino called for timely rate hikes to avoid a future inflation spike
Asia Session
BOJ Deputy Governor Himino called for timely rate hikes to avoid a future inflation spike while highlighting the impact of weak JPY. It seems the BoJ governors will be taking turn to blow the wind for a September hike. But without official "leaks", the rhetoric is not strong enough to push JPY higher. USD/JPY is trading 0.04% higher at 159.34.
The broader risk sentiment is showing signs of improvement on Thursday's Asia session. Major equity indexes are mostly in the green. The Australian household spending has risen by 1.1% m/m in July, beating estimates and could add fuel to rate hike speculation. AUD/USD is trading 0.16% higher at 0.7185. NZD/USD is trading 0.0+9% while USD/CAD also rises 0.03% on soft oil. Else, EUR/USD is up 0.03% and GBP/USD is down 0.06%.
