U.S. June NFIB survey - Third straight gain to a 6-month high

June’s NFIB small business optimism index of 91.5 from has seen a third straight rise in a continued recovery from March’s 88.5 reading that was the weakest since December 2012. June’s reading is a 6-month high.
This suggests signs of slowing in recent data are unlikely to extend into a recession risk. 6-month expectations of the economy at -25 from -30 are at their highest since July 2021. Rising hopes for Fed easing may be helping here.
Labor market data shows a slowing in job openings but hirings sustained a May improvement, and both compensation and compensation plans reversed dips seen in May. Net prices at 27 picked up from two straight months at 25.
