EMERGING ASIA

EM currencies are trading individually against the greenback as 2026 began to gain traction. The biggest winners are MYR 0.61%, THB 0.26%, SGD 0.17%, INR 0.12%, TWD & CNY 0.07% and CNH by 0.04%; while the biggest losers are PHP 0.15%, KRW 0.14%, IDR 0.06% and HKD 0.04%.

USD/CNH is trading lower at 6.9805 from 6.9835 previously closed. Onshore spot market is trading lower at 6.9839 from 6.9886. 12 month NDF followed both the on/offshore market and is trading lower at 6.8642 from 6.8615 previously closed.

USD/IDR spot market is trading higher at 16750 from 16740 previously closed. 1 month NDF is trading higher at 16761 from 16753 previously closed.

USD/INR onshore spot market is trading lower at 90.17 from 90.28 previously closed. 1 month NDF is trading lower at 90.34 from 90.46 previously closed.

 

NA Session

In a session of limited news the USD was generally a little stronger, EUR/USD falling to 1.1690 from 1.1710, and USD/JPY rising to 156.60 from 156.40. EUR/GBP was little changed as GBP/USD fell to 1.35 but EUR/CHF advanced to .93 from .9280. USD/CAD advanced to 1.38 from 1.3770 but AUD/USD was able to make modest gains, advancing to .6740 from .6725, as AUD/CAD reached .93 from .9250.
