16:40 BST - Cautious trade has given way to a sharp fall in both USD- and CAD-driven trade. The break below 1.3900 has added weight to sentiment and is extending late-June losses towards support at the 1.3820 Fibonacci retracement. Just lower is congestion around 1.3800, but already oversold daily stochastics could limit any initial tests in consolidation, before bearish weekly charts add fresh pressure.
Meanwhile, a close back above 1.3900, if seen, would help to stabilise price action and prompt fresh consolidation within congestion beneath 1.3950.
