08:55 BST - Consolidation has given way to a spike to fresh year highs around 102.95, where sharp selling interest has pushed prices back to support at the 101.80 monthly high of 24 June and congestion around 102.00. Intraday studies are bearish and both daily stochastics and the daily Tension Indicator are under pressure, highlighting room for a further break beneath here. Focus will then turn to support at the 101.50 range highs. But rising weekly charts should limit any immediate tests in renewed buying interest/consolidation.
Meanwhile, resistance is at the 102.85 Fibonacci retracement and extends to 102.95/00. A close above here will turn sentiment positive and extend broad January gains initially towards congestion around 103.50.
