Court Ruling on Energy Law: Mexican Institutions at a Crossroads
The Supreme Court is currently discussing whether the energy law proposed by President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador in early 2021 is in breach of Mexico’s constitution or not. If the Court rules that the energy law is valid, investors would get a strongly negative message that Mexican institutions have been weakened and checks and balances damaged.
