SARB Stays on Hold, Ignoring Easing Pressures

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) kept rates at 3.5% at its January meeting, in line with our expectations. With the help of rand strengthening since spring, and limited weakening in 2021, we see rates remaining on hold this year.
